A School For Activation is a learning journey including a 3-day retreat in the beautiful Lake District in Cumbria, and inspiring spaces in London.

Who is the School for Activation for?

Community connectors and social innovators based in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney or Waltham Forest (with limited places also available for applicants across London).

Your project or business will have a focus on bringing people together and activating public, community or civic spaces, with a clear social impact. 

Your project or business will be beyond the idea stage and up and running with some evidence of what you’ve achieved so far.

We’re keen to hear from a wide variety of people and projects.

Applications close on Monday 15th July.

26 September 2024 - Inspiring site visits and masterclasses in London.

27-28 September Intensive and recharging 2-day retreat in Cumbria, in the north west of England.

September-November 2024 - Action learning sessions

February 2025 - Networking event in East London

How do I Apply?

Complete your application by Monday 15 July at noon.

You can except to hear from us 2 weeks after.

Do I have to be based in a particular location?

In your application, you will need to demonstrate that you are based in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney or Waltham Forest (there are limited places available for other London boroughs, so get in touch if you’re thinking of applying but are not based in East London).

Your project/business must benefit communities in at least one of these 4 boroughs.

Ideally you/your team will have lived experience or existing grassroots experience of the issues they are tackling.

Is there a charge?

It's free! We cover the travel, accommodation, and activity costs for all participants. All you need to do is say yes, commit to the new experience, and have an open mind to explore what's possible.

The program is made possible by the generous funding from Stratford Cross and Lendlease.
